LAWRENCEVILLE, GA – The SCAD Atlanta Men's and Women's Tennis teams generated some buzz on the Georgia Gwinnett College courts at ITA Regionals, where all the players in the region came together to compete for a spot in the National ITA Cup. This was a crucial tournament to get some match play and see the level of other teams. Since the Bees only play individually in a singles and doubles draw against players from the other region schools in the fall, they were ready to capitalize on this opportunity.
Women's Tennis had some high ranked athletes going into the tournament, with
Shalimar Talbi ranked #1 for singles and
Manuella Eloundou Nga ranked #4 for singles.
Shalimar Talbi &
Adrianna Kluska were ranked #1 for doubles.
The Bees won the women's singles draw and the women's doubles draw, a rare achievement that demonstrates the growth of the program to evolve and capitalize on any opportunity to perform. This was an impressive victory against strong opponents, such as Georgia Gwinnett, the current national champion, and Tennessee Wesleyan, who is currently ranked top-5 in the nation.
