SCAD Atlanta Fitness Rules and Regulations


Rules and Regulations
 
  • You must have your VALID SCAD ID every time that you enter the facility. If you do not have your id card, you will not be able to workout. If your SCAD ID reads invalid for any reason, you cannot workout.
  • SCAD students, faculty or staff are not permitted to utilize SCAD Atlanta Fitness before or after the posted hours of operation.
  • Members who participate in programs and utilize SCAD Atlanta Fitness facilities do so at their own risk. SCAD Atlanta Fitness is not responsible for any injury that may occur to individuals who participate in any exercise activity. Participation in exercise activities is on a voluntary basis. Medical clearance before participation is highly recommended.
  • Stop your workout and seek help immediately if you experience any injury including light-headedness, dizziness, nausea, or any other discomfort.
  • No chalk, chains or Olympic lifting/momentum lifts allowed. We are a recreation facility, not an athletic or Olympic lifting facility.
  • Weight collars are required on all barbells.
  • Any activity that may damage the facility/equipment or is deemed unsafe by fitness staff must be stopped immediately.
  • Only current SCAD students, faculty and staff are permitted to use SCAD Atlanta Fitness.
  • No visitors or guests are permitted.
  • Proper athletic gear must be worn at all times. Shirt and shoes must be worn at all times. Jeans, jean shorts, khakis and excessively loose fitting clothing are not allowed. Apparel with zippers, chains, rivets or buckles are not permitted. SCAD Atlanta Fitness staff reserves the right to determine what is appropriate attire.
  • Absolutely no sandals, open toed or open back shoes are permitted while working out.
  • T-shirt or tank tops must be worn at all times.
  • No cut-off or belly shirt tank tops (sport bras) are permitted.
  • Proper hygiene is required. Wear clean clothes while working out.
  • Food is not permitted in SCAD Atlanta Fitness.
  • Smoking, tobacco products, alcohol or drugs are not permitted.
  • Water, Gatorade or sports drinks are permitted provided they are in sealable, plastic container.
  • Televisions and aerobics room sound systems are not to be tampered with at any time or under any circumstance.
  • Personal effects, including bags and other items are to be stored in lockers and are not allowed within SCAD Atlanta Fitness.
  • SCAD Atlanta Fitness is not responsible for any lost or stolen property.
  • Students are required to adhere to the rules and regulations in the student handbook.
  • Faculty and staff are required to adhere to the rules and regulations identified in the faculty and employee handbook.
  • SCAD Atlanta Fitness staff reserves the right to refuse service to any member who violates any rule or regulation or engages in any verbal and/or physical abuse of SCAD Atlanta Fitness staff or members.
  • Any formal problems, questions or concerns regarding SCAD Atlanta Fitness should be submitted via email to atlfitness@scad.edu. Please clearly describe the issue being addressed and be sure to include your name and phone number. All e-mails will be carefully reviewed.

Personal Training:
Personal training may only be performed by SCAD Atlanta Fitness personnel. No outside personal training/exercise instruction is allowed. Only a qualified/certified SCAD Atlanta Fitness personal trainer may perform personal training. Providing these services may result in dismissal from SCAD Atlanta Fitness and loss of membership.

Personal trainer and personal training are defined as:
  • Personal Trainer - Those who provide fitness advice and/or assist in the training of others in a one-to-one or group situation in a health/fitness center regardless of payment exchange or not.
  • Personal Training - The act of any one and or/all of the following: screening and evaluating health and fitness, designing exercise programs, instructing in exercise techniques, supervising and monitoring others, and/or responding to questions and problems that arise.

SCAD Atlanta Fitness Etiquette:
  • All members are required to wipe down all cardio equipment after each use.
  • Disinfecting towels and sprays are provided.
  • During peak hours, or when a member is waiting for a machine, you must observe a 30-minute time limit on all cardiovascular machines.
  • Cell phone use is not permitted while utilizing cardio equipment or while in the weight room area. This is for yours and all member safety and common courtesy while others are working out.
  • Other members must be allowed to “work in” between sets.
  • Return all weights to tree or weight rack.
  • Weights may not be set against any wall, bench or equipment.
  • Weights or dumbbells may not be dropped on the floor or benches.
  • Weights or any fitness equipment may not be removed from facility.
  • Report any unsafe locker room condition immediately to the front desk.
  • Report injuries to the on-site SCAD Atlanta Fitness staff immediately.
  • The SCAD Atlanta Fitness staff is ultimately responsible for enforcing all rules, regulations and procedures. If at any time a member does not comply with the rules, the member will be asked to leave, and his or her privileges may be revoked. The SCAD Atlanta Fitness staff on duty has the right to enlist the help of campus security at any time.

Locker Rooms:
  • Lockers are only available for use while working out.
  • Locks are not supplied by SCAD Atlanta Fitness.
  • Locks are to be removed upon leaving the fitness center.
  • Locks that are left on lockers will be removed and property left inside will be removed.
  • Please remove all personal items from showers after use. Items left behind will be removed and disposed of by the fitness staff.

Towel Service:
  • SCAD Atlanta Fitness does not offer a towel service.
