Menford Owusu

Menford Owusu was named the Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach for SCAD Atlanta in December, 02022. Owusu joined the coaching team at SCAD after a distinguished playing career including a collegiate national championship, and representing his country in the Davis Cup.

Coach Owusu's success in tennis began in the junior rankings, where he was top 200 in the world in ITF Junior Rankings. Having earned a senior world ranking in both singles and doubles, Owusu represented Ghana in 13 ties in the Davis Cup between 2007 & 2010.

His collegiate career began at Georgia Perimeter College in Atlanta where he was ranked #1 in the nation in JUCO, a feat he backed up with an individual national championship. In helping his team to a 3rd place national finish, Owusu was named All-American and voted an ITA All-Star. Owusu transferred to Southeastern University in Lakeland to complete his degrees in both Theology and Psychology. 
Coach Owusu began college coaching at Southeastern University as an assistant coach, where he helped the Women Team reach No. 22 for the program's first ever national ranking in 2013, accompanied with four Academic All-Conference honors. Owusu worked as a Developmental and Performance Coach in Coronado, CA at Angelica Gavaldon Academy, and in Lakeland at the Galindo Tennis Academy. Owusu later accepted a position at Windy Hill Athletic Club in Atlanta as a Teaching Pro, and later as Director of Teams from 2016 to 2018. He went on to become the Head Pro at Chattahoochee Country Club in Gainesville where he coached for two years.
In his spare time, Coach Menford remains an active tennis player through ALTA/USTA Leagues and local tournaments. He is also a huge soccer fan, having played collegiately at Southeastern, and an avid Liverpool FC supporter.
