ATLANTA – The SCAD Atlanta women's golf team added a key fixture to the program's success over the coming four years. Micaa' Thomas of Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, Maryland committed to compete for the Bees on National Signing Day.

Thomas, the daughter of Michael and Cheryl Thomas of Bowie, Maryland, is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Honor Art Society, in which she serves as the Vice President. In 2014, Thomas was the Maryland Region "Gold Key" winner of the Scholastic and Writing Contest.

"I hit the jackpot when Micaa' contacted me about attending SCAD Atlanta," stated Coach Graff. "She has everything that I look for in a SCAD Atlanta recruit. Her academics are quite impressive. She has several artistic achievements during her high school career and in regards to golf, she is tournament tested.  She is going to help fuel our success in the classroom and on the golf course for the next four years."

In 2014,  Micaa' was featured in the August 11th  issue of Sports Illustrated after winning the Veritas International AAU Junior Olympic Games Tournament in Tustin, California at the Tustin Ranch Golf Course. As a 16 year old, Micaa' recorded a score of 3-under par (33) on her last nine holes to win by six strokes. Micaa' also won the AAU National Championship the year prior in the 15 year old age group.

Most recently, Micaa' was notified that she will be inducted into the African-American Collegiate and Youth Golfer Hall of Fame where she will receive the 2015 Youth Golfer of the Year Award.

Micaa' plans to pursue a degree in either animation or visual effects while at SCAD Atlanta.
