Kingsport, Tenn. - As the Appalachian Athletic Conference heads begins its annual tennis championships today, the conference office released the conference award winners for the 2018-19 season. Freshman Ernesto Martinez narrowly missed being named the AAC's Men's Player of the Year, but earned a place on the All-Conference Team and All-Freshman Team. He was joined in All-Conference Honors on the women's side by Junior
Katrina De Guzman and Sophomore
Simran Kejriwal. The SCAD Women also had an honoree on the All-Freshman team with
Emilia Smythe being named.
Lautaro Monardo was named the Champion of Character for the SCAD Men, joined by Senior
Giulianna Hull for the SCAD Women. Both were named due to their outstanding sportsmanship and character throughout the season for the Bees. Last announced were the All-Academic Conference awards, where SCAD made a particularly strong showing. The SCAD Women had no fewer than six players honored, with
Vivian Amaro,
Katrina De Guzman,
Sofia Guerra,
Madelyn Homan,
Giulianna Hull, and
Simran Kejriwal all listed as All-Academic. With Freshmen ineligible for All-Academic status, the men's team had Junior

The Bees look to cap off a challenging season at the AAC Championships in Chattanooga, Tennessee over the next three days. The men head into the tournament ranked 5th in the conference after a season plagued with injuries to several key players.
