Lima, Peru – Representing Brazil and the Czech Republic respectively, Gabi Vianna and Marek Totusek competed in the Lima Grand Prix, featuring top athletes from over 50 countries, including powerhouses like Italy, the USA, Japan, and Ukraine. Lima welcomed a massive field of approximately 300 fencers from around the globe, and with them a wide array of fencing styles. As a Grand Prix, the tournament offered double the points, making it a critical "multiplier" event for world rankings and Olympic seeding. With the high stakes scoring and elite competition level, the fencing was exceptionally difficult, characterized by major upsets: most notably, the semifinal exit of Olympic Champion Ka Long Cheung from Hong Kong.

On the first day of the tournament, Marek Totusek performed well in the competitive field of 162 individuals, advancing from the pools with two wins and three losses. He advanced to the table of 128, where he lost to Jason Yu to place 112 overall.

Senior Gabreilla Vianna dueled with precision, speed, and accuracy on the second day of the competition, taking two wins in the pool rounds and closing the tournament with an impressive 104th place finish out of 134 individuals.

WOMEN'S INDIVIDUAL RESULTS:
  • Gabriella Vianna (Sao Paulo, Brazil / Photography) finished pools with 2 wins and 4 losses. Final placement: 104th.

MEN'S INDIVIDUAL RESULTS:
  • Marek Totusek (Jimramovske Pavlovice, Czech Republic / Sound Design) finished 75th after pools with two wins and three losses. Final placement: 112th.

MEN'S TEAM DIRECT ELIMINATION RESULTS:
  • Table 128: Totusek vs. Jason Yu - Yu won 15:8

WHAT'S NEXT? The Fencing Bees will compete next at the Coupe du Monde on April 30th.
