Ehab Faces Tough Competition at FIE Fencing World Championships

4/5/2026 11:09:00 AM

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – In order to gain FIE points, SCAD Fencer Jana Ehab competed in the Junior Women's Foil individual event at the 2026 Junior and Cadet Fencing World Championships in early April. These World Ranking Points determine Ehab's global seed as an elite fencer and help her qualify for major championships like the Olympics or the African Championships. The Rio World Championships featured an exceptionally deep field, providing tough competition even for Ehab, a highly ranked fencer who previously had a world ranking of No. 71. She was in the mix with incredible fencers such as Lee Kiefer (USA), the Olympic Gold medalist who often headlined these foil events, and Alice Volpi (ITA), a multiple-time world champion. Rounding out the bouts, she placed 93rd out of the 157 fencers.

WOMEN'S INDIVIDUAL RESULTS:
  • Jana Ehab (Cairo, Egypt / Interior Design) Final placement: 93rd out of 157 fencers.

WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will be back together to compete as a team in the fall.
