Asheville, NC -- Junior Avery Raymond closed out the track and field season for the Bees at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. Hosted on University of North Carolina Asheville's track facilities, Raymond took competition head on, even despite multiple rain delays throughout the week. She qualified in both the 5,000 meters and the 10,000 meters. This was Raymond's second time qualifying for Outdoor Nationals in the 10K; she qualified last year, finishing 19th. This was her first time qualifying in the 5K. She did not let her resume dictate her performance, however.

The 10K was filled with top-notch distance stars, but Raymond was ready to put her name on the list. She ran a patient race, knowing when to make significant moves. She finished in 11th place. Less than 24 hours later, Raymond took to the track to run the 5K, where 8 women from the 10K returned to compete. Raymond ran a very strong race, picking off competitors within the last mile, moving up 6 spots and taking 14th place.
