ATLANTA – The SCAD Atlanta women’s tennis team took another step towards earning a national ranking by downing the 25th ranked team in the country, Milligan College.
The Bees jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after the doubles matches. Teammates
Amanda Marrow and
Lee-Anne Lingo defeated the duo of Grace Sarver and Sarah Rainwater by a score of 9-7.
Paula Peters and
Carolyn Kernodle also won their match against Milligan’s Kayla Kelly and Rachel Hodas 8-4. SCAD Atlanta’s
Alina Tseplukhova and
Katya Kiseleva teamed up to defeat Ahmee Kelly and Halie Winfrey
8-6.
The match turned much closer during the singles matches as SCAD Atlanta’s top three seeds all lost their respective matches. Paula Peters, Carolyn Kernodle, and Elisa Freitas all notched victories to seal the SCAD Atlanta victory.
“The Milligan team did a great job of taking us out of our game today, so I was really proud of the way our ladies fought through and found a way to win,” stated Coach Glen Hill. “This was their first true test this season and they passed it with flying colors.”
The Bees return to the courts this Friday, April 5th as they travel to take on Oxford College.
