Niota, Tenn. – Senior
Micaa' Thomas continued her hot start to her final season as a Bee by earning medalist honors at the Tennessee Wesleyan Fall Invitational. Her rounds of 78 and 76 led the Bees and helped them win the team championship by five shots over Brenau University.
"Micaa' has been amazing so far!" said Coach Graff. "She has put in a lot of hard work over the summer and she is seeing the results."
After a top-five finish at the SCAD Atlanta Fall Invitational, Thomas finished tied for first with Taylor Williams of Bryan College after 36 holes in Tennessee. It only took one playoff hole for Thomas to secure the medalist honors as she parred the par 5 first.
Thomas also received some help from junior,
Leslie Ginter. Ginter's first round started slowly with a score of 83, but she rebounded nicely with a 76 in the second round. Junior
Rachita Vasandani (82-79) and freshman
Daniela Garcia (85-83) posted contributing scores for the Bees.
Arianna Martinez (85-90) and
Alyssa Inniss-Gittens (86-78) also competed for the Bees.
"All in all, we did what we wanted to do, but we have a long way to go before we reach our true potential," stated Graff. "We showed a lot of grit after a poor first round, but we made the proper adjustments and were about to come away with the win. I'm proud of how the ladies fought until the end."
The Bees return to the course on October 8
th and 9
th at the AAC Fall Championship hosted by Milligan College.
